Quick Fix: Two for One

Quick Fix: Two for One
Two tools for the price of one.

Today I want so share two apps I used while I was in Japan this last month.

Hopefully some of these tools will be new and of use to you.

Both of these are Apps, let's get started.

App: Airalo

Local and regional eSIMs for travellers - Airalo
I didn't get paid for this

For anyone traveling internationally, this app is great. I just came back from Japan a few days ago and I used this to have a connected phone.

Just make sure you have an unlocked phone.

This App takes advantage of E-SIMs (Electronic SIM cards) so all you have to do is log on to the app, choose the country you are traveling to, pick a data package and follow the instructions to set it up.

Once you get everything going your phone will connect to a phone network and you'll be set. It's easy to overlook and think "Oh i'll have WIFI", but there's nothing worse than not having a way to navigate or contact people in a new city.

True story: Last week I was in Shibuya, and some other foreigners approached to ask me for directions to a restaurant. (In Shibuya!) If you're unaware, Shibuya is full of places to eat at every corner. But these foreigners were so lost that they resorted to asking me. They had come to the city with no working phones.

Which is insane to me, but I helped them find a spot anyway.

Bottom line, I spent about $26 to use my phone for about 25 days in Tokyo.

Definitely worth a look, here's the link to their home page:

App: Libby

Meet Libby the Free Online Library - Save Our Families
I SHOULD be getting paid for these.

Libby is another app I spent lots of time on during flights and train rides. Libby is a online library. It works like one too, so you will have to wait to checkout a book if there aren't any copies available.

For this one you'll need a Library card at your local library (If you live in the US).

Once you get your Library card, you will use it to access your library's online database by using Libby. If you have multiple library cards you can use all of them on the same account. Libby will just search all of the libraries you're a part of to see if they have your book/audiobook.

Libby will work on your phone, tablet, or computer.

I spent the commutes either listening to an audiobook or reading a book. Don't sleep on this resource. It's been a game changer for me.

That's it for this one, I have a breakdown coming up regarding iPad Pro's, and some productivity apps.

So keep an eye out on your inbox.
